I’d like to thank….

liebster-blog-award

Gary of the ever-excellent Sgt Steiner blog http://sgtsteiner.blogspot.co.uk/ has nominated my blog for the Leibster award – no idea what it is, but if it gets more people looking at some of the blogs I like, it can’t be a bad thing!

The rules of the Leibster Blog Award are very simple:
  1. Copy and paste the award on your Blog linking it to the blogger who has given it to you.
  2. Pass the award to your top 5 favorite Blogs with fewer than 200 followers by leaving a comment on one of their posts to notify them that they have won the award
  3. List your nominations (complete with links) on your own Blog.
  4. Sit back and bask in that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing that you have just made someone’s day!

The challenge is to get it down to 5 favourites and to pick ones that haven’t already been nominated, so in no particular order, here goes.

  1. Alan of the Milton Hundred Wargame club’s excellent blog. http://leofwinewargamerson.blogspot.co.uk/ Always something of interest here, and I am mindful that I haven’t played his “Blood, Bilge and Iron Balls” Napoleonic Naval rules (a present from last Christmas) as promised yet, but you can read all about them here amidst Operation Squad, Saga and a load of other good stuff.
  2. Rough War (of the Ring) http://roughwotr.blogspot.co.uk/ despite the name has quite a lot else beside WOTR – Dystopian Wars, Bolt Action and Saga to name but a few – check it out!
  3. KoffeeKlub http://koffeeklub.blogspot.co.uk/ is totally board games orientated, but their in-depth reports of games they have actually played make them stand out from the crowd. Completely co-incidentally, they meet in a primary school I attended for a term.
  4. Wargaming for Grown-ups http://wargaming4grownups.blogspot.co.uk/ – surely some sort of contradiction in the title? A wide ranging and interesting blog – the SCW rules being developed interest me especially (and the shed developing in the back garden makes me jealous!)
  5. Surf Shack Gaming http://surfshackgames.blogspot.co.uk/ Rich Jones’ blog. A great source of inspiration for M&T, Bolt Action, Saga and even makes me want to try out the new edition of 40K.

Blogs I would also have nominated but someone beat me to it:-

  1. Andy’s Wargaming Blog http://guitarheroandy.blogspot.co.uk/ Home of Maximus Minimus.
  2. Dan Mersey, author of Dux Bellorum http://merseybooks.blogspot.co.uk/
  3. Napoleonics and more http://fuentesdeonoro.blogspot.co.uk/
  4. Spreading the Lard indeed http://mylardiesgames.blogspot.co.uk/
